Musician, actor, and director KOTTA releases his third single and music video, “New Crowned King”

KOTTA, also known as Eric Gorlow, is an American artist of many talents: singer-songwriter, actor, writer and director, he will release his third single “New Crowned King” on August 12, 2022, recorded and produced in Los Angeles by Raz Kinghoffer (whose music has appeared on “Insatiable”, “Lucifer”, “Shades of Blue”, “Shadowhunters”, “Almost Family”, “The Rookie”, etc.).

The playful, yet bluesy rock beat and catchy riff underscore “New Crowned King‘s” eclectic, ambiguous lyrics, which take inspiration from artists such as Beck, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arctic Monkeys, or Tyler the Creator. 

The music video, directed by Kotta himself, brings us to a world of frisky humor with an underlying bluesy soul, where a man wakes up in the desert, wearing a crown, with no memory of how he got there. He scrambles under the blaring sun searching for relief and protecting his crown from strange otherworldly visitors…

Kotta previously released 2 singles and is currently working on his first full album, hoping to release it by 2023. “Stray little Legs” (2020) is a song he composed for his movie “Let’s Dream”. For his first single, Kotta remained in the shadows and asked L.A. based singer Buel to sing it.  In 2021, Kotta’s voice came to life as he debuted “Dolly’s Overdue”, his second single.

The song was stuck in my head for months – back in December of last year, every time I was driving somewhere alone this song kept pushing itself into my subconscious. In fact most of the song was written, driving around the empty streets (never that empty in LA), in the middle of the night. It had a very stranded feeling, as you can see in the music video. King of the empty dark streets.
King of what? The music video was shot in an unknown desert that no human can get to without interstellar help. It questions the relativity of desired power.
