New Frank Zappa box set Waka/Wazoo to be released in December

The Waka/Wazoo box set will come out on December 16. The five-disc collection features alternate takes of nearly every song from both albums, Zappa-produced demos for jazz keyboardist and composer George Duke (the versions with Zappa have never been officially issued until now) and live footage recorded at the famous Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco on December 15, 1972.

Additionally, tim the Waka/Jawaka and The Grand Wazoo albums themselves will be reissued on Blu-Ray Audio disc in Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital True HD 5.1 surround sound mixes and also black and coloured vinyl. The two albums will also be available for hi-res streaming.

The box set it’s housed in a clamshell box with a 44-page booklet featuring previously unpublished photos from the recording sessions, rehearsals, and tours, as well as new liner notes by Joe Travers and historian Scott Parker.
