Background

The charismatic singer BUEL stays true to her own style and dreamy universe with Dancing with the Devils of Mine, an alternative-pop song infused with influences such as Christine And The Queens and Tame Impala.

The song is about taking a more individualistic approach to gender and sexuality.

In my opinion society is too involved in individuals’ gender and sexual orientation and this is accepted by most of the people as people from all sides feel the pressure to try to explain what these mean to them and who they are interested in. This acceptance feels a bit like an invasion of privacy to me and I think the more we accept to explain our gender and sexuality to others the more we create space for suppression and judgment. Because these are only feelings and concepts and shouldn’t be treated as solid rock or ‘gold’ for people’s liking or sympathy as I mentioned in the song. Like ‘boys having to act like boys”, or the concept of a “man not being a man or woman”. I believe if we could all accept that these are personal feelings that evolve day to day, there would be more space for privacy and respect. My dream is to be able to show up as either a boy or a girl spiritually or physically on various days. As I don’t seem to be seeking any attention, judging, or questioning, I am neutral. People seem to find comfort in identifying others and treating these feelings as something fixed and unchangeable. However, we are constantly being enlightened about ourselves and the universe and can instead choose to stay open to endless opportunities. I think this contradicts with the flowing nature of our spirits which I wish was a ‘Careless Pleasure’.

BUEL started singing her own melodies early on, when she was 4. She soon after went on to write and arrange her own compositions. She made her first public appearances when she was 12, first playing piano, and then singing as a member of her school band. Around the same time, she also began writing short stories, poems and essays that were eventually published in her school’s magazines as well as local newspapers. These compositions would go on to become the source for some of her cryptic lyrics. She taught herself how to play guitar when she was 15, and started to focus on her solo career, building her artistry drawing inspiration from Nirvana, Meredith Monk, Yoko Ono, Morphine, Mazzy Star, Kate Bush.

BUEL is a complete artist and her talent doesn’t go unnoticed, wherever she plays. In Los Angeles, at The Troubadour, the Hotel Cafe, at the Rockwood Music Hall in New York, in Austin, Ohio, Miami and Orlando, her dreamy world, catchy melodies, cryptic lyrics and originality captivated her audience.

She was remarked in 2019 by Adrian Gurvitz, who signed BUEL a production deal with AGM Records UK, upon her release ‘Advice’. Adrian Gurvitz is famous for his hit songs and Grammy Award-winning soundtrack from the movie ‘The Bodyguard’.

BUEL’s single “Lemon Smile“, released in 2020, was listed as best new pop by BBC1, featured on major radio stations and won the 2021 London Music Video Festival.

Her song ‘Stray Little Legs’ is featured in the movie ‘Let’s Dream’, and ‘Troublemaker‘ in the movie ‘My True Fairytale’.

Her unique cover of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit“ is a demonstration of BUEL’s distinct style. Released in March 2021 and distributed by Charlie Walk‘s Music Mastery Distribution, the song took BUEL to the next level, entering in rotation on radio stations worldwide and catching the attention of national publications. Music video produced and  directed by BUEL.

BUEL released her singleSmall Talk in July 2021, which immediately entered on rotation on radio stations worldwide. She hasn’t stopped working since, as she finished and polished the production of her upcoming album, to be released in 2023, and she’s been working on new materials as well.
